Web Designers and Search Engine Optimization

As previously mentioned, many web designers, or web design companies would not be able to attract a search engine if you sent it an invitation to your birthday party. This is not a criticism of other web designers in any way; it is just a fair statement that reflects the differences between the two areas of today's modern web sites.

The two areas are a) the web site content, and b) the way the search engines interprets that content to reflect the search engine rankings of the site. It is all very nice having a graphic-rich web site with tons of pictures, flash animations and suchlike, but what is the point if nobody ever gets to see it?

All too often web site designers, and sometimes the site owners, only see things from their viewpoint and fail to see what is necessary to ensure the site does reasonably well in search engine rankings and visitor appeal. I am fortunate in that I have 10 years experience in both search engine optimization AND web site design for small businesses and industrial companies.
